Helenistická věda jako kontext pro helenistickou matematiku

Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with Hellenistic science. Its aim is to explain Hellenistic science problems with special focus on mathematics. And this is mainly because knowledge about mathematics in this period is often reduced on Euclid of Alexandria and few different mentions. That is why this work is especially for mathematics teacher to extend knowledge about this era in consideration with type of work of Hellenistic scientist. Hellenistic scientists were not working with so many abstract perceptions in contrast with successors in 17th century, Hellenistic focus more on concreteness. This reality can be good for motivation in education, because their revelation theories are more understandable for students. That is the reason, why this period is suitable for insight in history of mathematics for its lesser difficulty. This work should show a reader that Hellenistic scientists overcame by many revelations not only their antecedents, but also their followers, especially in quality and sophistication of their revelations, and that this period shouldn't be forgotten. Bakalářská práce pojednává o helenistické vědě. Jejím cílem je objasnit problematiku helenistické vědy se zvláštní pozorností na matematiku. A to zejména proto, že jsou matematické poznatky tohoto období často redukovány pouze na osobu Euklida z Alexandrie a několik dalších zmínek. Proto je práce primárně určena vyučujícím matematiky na rozšíření znalostí v tomto historickém období i s ohledem na způsob práce helenistických vědců. Ti na rozdíl od svých nástupců při zrodu moderních věd od 17. století nepracují v tak velkém množství s abstraktními pojmy, ale spíše se zaměřují na konkrétnosti. Tato skutečnost může být motivační při výuce, protože objevy a teorie helenistických vědců jsou pro žáky srozumitelnější. Tudíž tato epocha je velmi vhodná pro vhled do historie matematiky pro její nepřílišnou náročnost. Práce má čtenáři ukázat, že helenističtí vědci svými mnohými objevy v lecčem překonali své předchůdce, ale i následovníky zejména v kvalitě a propracovanosti objevů, a že se jedná o období, na které by nemělo být zapomínáno.
