uk.abstract.en | The study examines Jakob Julius David’s precarious position in the Viennese literary scene around 1900: on the one hand, this means an examination of his public -media positioning and staging between 1882 and 1900, and on the other, an examination of selected literary texts by David with a view to deviations and similarities with the practices and aesthetics of Jung -Wien. The method includes the elaboration of David’s literary and poetological positioning in newspapers and magazines of the 1880s and 1890s and the examination of selected literary publications of the time. The following remarks offer insights into the dissertation project: in addition to theoretical considerations and a text -analytical sample, David’s mode of self -portrayal and staging is contrasted with that of Hermann Bahr. | cs |
