| uk.abstract.en | The city of Zlín, shaped by the Baťa company, can be considered one of the most striking phenomena of modernity in 20th century Czechoslovakia: Away from the traditional historical centres, an industrial vision was realised that comprehensively redesigned not only work processes but also intervened in the lives of the workforce. This article focuses on a fiction account of the living and working conditions in Zlín that was very well -known at the time but has since fallen into oblivion. While the distribution of its first edition in 1933 was prevented by the Baťa company through legal means, the post -war editions were better suited to the new political circumstances in Czechoslovakia.
