Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to translate the twelfth chapter of the book Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife, written by Mary Roach, and to comment on the translation. The commentary consists of a translation analysis of the source text based on the model of Christiane Nord, a description of the method of translation, the translation problems and the procedures which were used, as well as the typology of shifts. Cílem této bakalářské práce je přeložit dvanáctou kapitolu knihy Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife, jejíž autorkou je Mary Roachová, a zároveň k překladu vytvořit komentář. Součástí komentáře je překladatelská analýza výchozího textu, která je vedená podle modelu Christiane Nordové, popis zvolené metody překladu, překladatelských problémů, použitých překladatelských postupů a typologie posunů.
