Komentovaný překlad vybraných kapitol románu Bridge of Birds od Barryho Hugharta s úvodní studií o autorovi, stylu románu a problémech překladu

Abstract

The thesis is divided into two parts. The practical part contains the translation of the selected chapters of a fantasy novel Bridge of Birds: A Novel of an Ancient China That Never Was (1984) by an american author Barry Hughart. The introductory theoretical part contextualises Hughart's novel in the fantasy literature and specifically introduces the chinoiserie genre. Furthermore, the study will focus on the translatological analysis of chosen complexities which are mainly connected to the use of Chinese mythology as well as cultural and historical allusions which are reflected mainly in creating names and titles. The complexities of translating poems and humour are also included in the thesis. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. Jednu část tvoří samotný překlad vybraných kapitol fantasy románu (1984) amerického . Úvodní teoretická studie zasazuje Hughartův román do kontextu fantasy literatury a přibližuje žánr takzvaných chinoiserií. Dále se práce zaměřuje na analýzu vybraných překladatelských problémů, a to jak na problémy spjaté s užitím čínské mytologie a zů na čínskou kulturu i historii, promítajících se zejména do tvorby jmen a názvů, ale také na problematiku překladu básní a humoru.
