history, change of political regime, school history teaching, most recent history, controversial issues, history teacher, ethical dilemmas, strategies usedThe topic of the study straddles at least four disciplines: history, history teaching methods, educationalpsychology, and ethics. Some aspects of this topic can be found in the text on history teachingby Z. Beneš and B. Gracová. According to them, history teaching must take into account two contradictorytendencies: an accent on generalisation which historical sciences bring to those interestedin historical sciences and their discoveries, and an accent on personal, family or generation sharedexperiencing and interpreting of historical events. The author confronts the discoveries with practicalexperiences of history teachers as revealed by current research, and introduced initiativestothis end, as implemented in practical experience in Chile, Northern Ireland, and Spain.
