Work deals with the crisis of democracy in Europe and its impact on the surge of nationalist tendencies in society, which could result in badly managed public discussion to the extreme nationalism with all its consequences. The text is divided into three main chapters. The first part is dedicated to problematic concepts of nation and nationalism. And even with regard to their historical significance. The second part deals with the essential features of democracy, then primarily an explanation of what I consider the current crisis of democracy. The third part is an effort to select the nationalist parties to illustrate how these parties present, profile and also show their growing electoral potential. At the end is a brief overview of findings and a brief account whether the nationalist tendencies in Europe, dangerous, or whether Europe can benefit democracy.
