Mediální obraz hlavních kandidátů v republikánských primárních volbách v USA 2024

Abstract

The Media Portrayal of the Main Candidates in the 2024 US Republican Primary Election is a thesis that focuses on a detailed analysis of articles reporting on the candidates for the Republican nomination for the November US presidential election. Articles discussing the Republican Party candidates are examined during the analysis period from November 14, 2023, to January 14, 2024. Due to their high number, only the top five favourites in the primaries were included in the analysis. These candidates are Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Chris Christie. Three media outlets, or rather their news sites, were included in the analysis. The first is CNN.com, which represents the left-leaning media. The second chosen server is WSJ.com, which by contrast represents the center-oriented media, while the right-oriented media is represented by FOXNews.com. Although only three media outlets were deliberately included in the analysis, each of them occupies a different place on the right-wing political scale. Therefore, it can be assumed that the coverage of each candidate will differ at least slightly. Práce s názvem Mediální obraz hlavních kandidátů v republikánských primárních volbách v USA 2024 se zaměřuje na detailní analýzu článků informujících o uchazečích o republikánskou nominaci pro listopadové prezidentské volby ve Spojených státech. V analyzovaném období od 14. listopadu 2023 do 14. ledna 2024 jsou zkoumány články pojednávající o kandidátech republikánské strany. Kvůli jejich vysokému počtu byla do analýzy zařazena pouze pětice největších favoritů primárek. Těmi byli Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haleyová, Vivek Ramaswamy a Chris Christie. Do analýzy byla zařazena pouze tři média, lépe řečeno jejich zpravodajské servery. Prvním je web CNN.com, který je zástupcem levicově orientovaných médií. Druhým zvoleným serverem je WSJ.com, jenž naopak reprezentuje média středová, ta pravicově orientovaná pak zastupuje web FOXNews.com. Jak tedy lze vidět, do analýzy byla záměrně zařazena pouze tři média, každé z nich ale zaujímá na pravolevé politické škále jiné místo. Dá se proto předpokládat, že se jejich informování o jednotlivých kandidátech bude trochu lišit. Poslední podmínka, kterou musely články splnit, aby mohly být do výzkumu zařazeny, byla, že se texty musely týkat zvolených témat.
