This research explores the Colombian media perception of the EU and the US in the case of post conflict Colombia. Both actors' important role in the Colombian conflict resolution granted them prominence in the peacebuilding process the country is going through, an open invitation for them to deploy their respective and commonly juxtaposed foreign policy tools. Following a news media analysis informed by the cascade activation framing theory (Entman, 1993; Entman, 2003), this study argues that despite there's a significant salience of both EU and US's foreign policies - especially in the news in which the actors were involved in the Colombian domestic issues. The major degree of centrality and emotive charge in which the US is framed ultimately makes it a more outstanding international actor - a result that may be related to the US-Colombia longstanding and stable partnership. Still, although the EU is not the most salient, perceptions in the Colombian media show the recognition of the EU's distinctiveness as normative actor and in the environmental, energy, migration, and human rights fields.
