La galanterie dans le théâtre du jeune Pierre Corneille

Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with gallantry in selected early plays of Pierre Corneille's comic genre. The aim of the thesis is to reveal gallant components in the given plays, to approach the circumstances of their involvement in dramaturgy and to describe their influence on comedy. The first part is devoted to the conceptualization of gallantry as a sociocultural and a literary category, considering its origin and influences from the Middle Ages to the seventeenth century. The description of these influences is necessary to understand the semantic permeability of this category, which gained many meanings during its development and reached their opposition, which significantly influences the gallant doctrine of classicist society, and thus the Corneille's audience. The second part analyzes concrete gallant components in selected comedies, whose corpus is divided into two parts: comedy of the thirties, Mélite and La Veuve, and comedy of the forties, Le Menteur and La Suite du Menteur. Each unit is achieved by a discussion summarizing the most important characteristics of the poet's style, the use of gallantry and the comedy of the decade, which allows them to be compared with each other. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá galantností ve vybraných raných dramatech Pierra Corneille komického žánru. Cílem práce je identifikovat galantní prvky v daných hrách, přiblížit okolnosti jejich zapojení do dramaturgie a popsat jejich vliv na komično. První část je věnována konceptualizaci galantnosti jako sociokulturní a následně i literární kategorie s přihlédnutím k jejímu původu a vlivům od středověku po sedmnácté století. Popis těchto vlivů je nezbytný pro pochopení sémantické propustnosti a tvárlivosti dané kategorie, jež během svého vývoje nabyla mnoha, dokonce i protichůdných významů, což významně ovlivňuje galantní doktrínu klasicistní společnosti, a tedy také corneillovského publika. Druhá část rozebírá vybrané galantní prvky ve zvolených komediích, jejichž korpus je rozdělen na dva celky: komedie třicátých let, Mélite a La Veuve, a komedie čtyřicátých let, Le Menteur a La Suite du Menteur. Každý celek je zakončen diskusí shrnující nejvýznamnější charakteristiky autorské poetiky, užití galantnosti a komična dané dekády, jež umožňuje jejich vzájemné srovnání. Pozornost je soustředěna zejména na vývoj básníkova stylu s ohledem na perspektivu dobového publika.
