Abstract

The topic of this thesis is the image of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth (1837-1898) within the framework of fictional narratives. Elizabeth of Bavaria is a constant subject of interest for historians and artists, as evidenced by, among other things, a number of historiographic and fictional works dealing with the lives of her and her close relatives. In my work, I analyse how the Empress is presented in 16 selected historical novels, films, series and theatrical productions, of which she is a major or minor, but important figure of the story. The theoretical basis for me is the question of the relationship between fiction and non-fiction and the issue of fictional works with historical themes. I then examine the image of the Austrian Empress in five chapters, each focusing on one key aspect of her life, one of the "roles" she has played over the course of her life, and in each of these chapters I on the one hand compare how the authors of the fiction deal with the topic, on the other hand I equate this fictional picture with how the professional historiographic discourse approaches this issue. Tématem této diplomové práce je obraz rakouské císařovny Alžběty (1837-1898) v rámci fikčních narativů. Alžběta Bavorská je setrvalým předmětem zájmu historiků i umělců, o čemž svědčí mimo jiné množství odborných i fikčních děl zabývajících se životem jejím i jejích blízkých příbuzných. V rámci své práce analyzuji to, jak je císařovna prezentována v 16 vybraných historických románech, filmech, seriálech a divadelních inscenací, jejichž je hlavní nebo vedlejší, avšak z hlediska děje důležitou postavou. Teoretickým východiskem je mi otázka vztahu fikce a ne-fikce a problematika fikčních děl s historickou tematikou. Obraz rakouské panovnice následně zkoumám v rámci pěti kapitol, z nichž každá se zaměřuje na jeden klíčový aspekt jejího života, na jednu z "rolí", které v průběhu svého života hrála, přičemž v každé z těchto kapitol jednak komparuji to, jak se s daným tématem vypořádávají jednotliví autoři fikce, jednak srovnávám tento fikční obraz s tím, jak se k této problematice staví odborný historiografický diskurz. V závěru se poté zabývám otázkou císařovnina obrazu v rámci fikčních narativů obecně a také se věnuji tomu, jakými prostředky a způsoby se autoři fikce záměrně odchylují od poznatků historiků.
