Brünn, Mähren, Diglossie, Schulwesen, Schulprogramme, SprachenpolitikDie vorliegende Studie fokussiert den sprachlichen Wandel des Brünner Gymnasialwesens am Ende der Habsburgermonarchie. Das Forschungsinteresse liegt auf dem Einfluss der Errichtung tschechischsprachiger Gymnasien auf die sprachliche Verteilung der Schülerschaft sowie den Auswirkungen der sprachenpolitischen Maßnahmen der Jahre 1880, 1897 und 1905 auf den Status und das Prestige der zweiten Landessprache innerhalb des Unterrichts. Es kann gezeigt werden, dass es einerseits ab 1867 innerhalb des Brünner Gymnasialwesens zu einer sprachlich -nationalen Segregation der Schülerschaft kam, dass aber andererseits das Interesse an der zweiten Landessprache Tschechisch durch die Gleichstellung(sversuche) im Bereich der Amtssprache bis 1918 kontinuierlich stieg. Beide Ergebnisse können als Folgen einer allmählichen „Normalisierung“ der ehemals konfliktiven diglossischen Sprachsituation durch den höher werdenden Status des Tschechischen gesehen werden.
