Böhmische Länder, Johann Karl August Musäus, Märchen, populäre KulturWith the anthology Volksmärchen der Deutschen (1782–1786), Johann Karl August Musäus created one of the most popular books of fairy tales, which was repeatedly imitated. This paper deals with the reception of the Musäus’ fairy tales of Bohemian origin (Libussa and Rübezahl) in the Bohemian lands. The possibilities of the transpositions of the fairy tales in forms and genres of the prestigious as well as popular/trivial literature are described on the basis of the prestigious poetry of the romantic era, of the patriotic romantic books of fairy tales as well as of the free translations and anonymous reprints of the fairy tales in the chapbooks. A special attention is paid to the strategies of (cultural) translation in the intercultural reality of the Bohemian lands.
