Abstract

Práce se zabývá třemi velkými ženami počátků křesťanské víry Sárou, Rebekou a Ráchel. Na základě informací, které lze o nich vyčíst z Bible, se je autorka snaží lépe poznat, pochopit a vykreslit jejich živé portréty. Společným křížem všech tří žen byla dlouholetá neplodnost. V kontrastu k ní stálo zaslíbení, které od Boha dostali jejich muži: "Tvého potomstva bude jako hvězd na nebi a písku na mořském břehu" (Gn 22,17). Tento paradox se ukázal jako významný právě pro Boží plán spásy člověka. Práce sleduje složitou cestu "velkých matek" od původního polyteistického náboženství k víře v jediného Boha. Jejich poznávání Hospodina nebyla jednorázová záležitost, ale proces trvající celý život. Významnou úlohu v tomto procesu sehráli také jejich muži. Z tohoto důvodu si práce všímá také prvotního Božího plánu při stvoření člověka, biblického pohledu na ženu, i na vztah mezi mužem a ženou. Pro zasazení zkoumaných skutečností do historického kontextu je zařazena kapitola zabývající se postavením žen ve starověkém Předním Orientu.

The great mothers of Israel There are three great women important for the Christian faith: Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel in the focal point of the work. Based on Bible information, the author tries to learn more about them, to be able to understand them and to draw their vivid pictures. Long lasting infertility was the cross that all three women had in common. To its contrary, there was the promise given by God to their husbands: "I shall multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and like the sand which is on the seashore"(Gn 22,17). This paradox proved to be of special significance in the God's plan for human salvation. The work follows the difficult ways Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel had to do from their original polytheistic religion to their faith in one God. They were discovering the Lord gradually; it was a whole life lasting process. An important role in it belonged to their husbands. This is the reason, why an attention in the work is also paid to God's original plan of the creation of a man, to the Bible view of a woman, and of the relation between a man and a woman. Chapter dealing with the position of women in the ancient Middle East is meant to put the examined facts into the historical context.
