Filmové a televizní biografie z oblasti motorsportu: Analýza děl z let 2013-2024

Abstract

This thesis, entitled "Film and Television Biographies in the Field of Motorsports: An Analysis of Works from 2013-2024," aims to analyze and compare how contemporary audiovisual productions construct the image of the motorsports world. The analyzed works include the films Rush (2013), Le Mans '66 (2019), Gran Turismo (2023), Race for Glory (2024), and the miniseries Senna (2024). Based on a qualitative semiotic analysis drawing on the concepts of David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson, the thesis examines the individual components of film style-narrative, mise-en-scène, camera, editing, and sound. The theoretical part of the thesis first anchors the phenomenon of motorsport in a broader socio- economic context and maps the historical development and typology of the biographical genre. The practical part then focuses on identifying the narrative and stylistic strategies that shape the viewer's experience and co-create the media memory of these sports disciplines. The thesis also interprets cultural myths associated with motorsport, such as rivalry and heroism. It identifies differences in the portrayal of individual motorsport disciplines and the specifics of film production compared to series production.

Tato diplomová práce s názvem Filmové a televizní biografie z oblasti motorsportu: Analýza děl z let 2013-2024 má za cíl analyzovat a komparovat způsoby, jakými současná audiovizuální tvorba konstruuje obraz světa motorsportu. Mezi analyzovaná díla patří snímky Rivalové (2013), Le Mans '66 (2019), Gran Turismo (2023), Závod o slávu (2024) a minisérie Senna (2024). Na základě kvalitativní sémiotické analýzy vycházející z konceptů Davida Bordwella a Kristin Thompsonové práce zkoumá jednotlivé složky filmového stylu - naraci, mizanscénu, kameru, střih a zvuk. Teoretická část práce nejprve ukotvuje fenomén motorsportu v širším socioekonomickém kontextu a mapuje historický vývoj a typologii biografického žánru. Praktická část se následně zaměřuje na narativní a stylistické strategie, které formují divácký zážitek a spoluvytvářejí mediální paměť těchto sportovních disciplín. Práce zároveň interpretuje kulturní mýty spojené s motorsportem, jako je rivalita či hrdinství, a identifikuje rozdíly v zobrazování jednotlivých odvětví i specifika filmové oproti seriálové produkci.
