The introductory part is followed by the first chapter Historical Preview. This chapter proceeds from the earliest periods and cross- sectionally maps the main historical areas in which knowledge of specific approaches to addressing the use of individual houses has survived. From the ancient Roman insulae, which were fully controlled by the superficies principle, to the so-called palatial ownership in some French areas, to the different variants of the Stockwerkseigentum, arising mainly in German- speaking areas. The chapter traces the development towards the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century, when larger state formations began to emerge in Europe, with the replacement of the fragmented legal regulations of the time by new comprehensive civil codes. At the end of the chapter, the pan-European perspective is narrowed down to the legal regulation in force in the area of the Czech Republic today, through which the chapter moves to the current legal regulation. The second chapter is devoted to the problem of theoretical concepts of home ownership, which theoretically define the basic approaches to this matter.
