Abstract

Cults of Female Saints in Medieval Bohemia The diploma thesis deals with the cults of female saints in medieval Bohemia, namely the most widespread ones, including St. Anne, St. Barbara, St. Catherine of Alexandria, St. Cunigunde of Luxembourg, St. Ludmilla, St. Mary Magdalene and St. Margaret of Antioch. The aim of this thesis is to find answers to the questions of when, where, how and why each cult spread and how it influenced the church and society of the time. The thesis focuses on various aspects of veneration, particularly the frequency of dedications of churches, chapels and altars.

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na kulty světic ve středověkých echách, a to těch zde nejrozšířenějších, konkrétně tedy svaté Anny, Barbory, Kateřiny Alexandrijské, Kunhuty Lucemburské, Ludmily, Marie Magdaleny a Markéty Antiochijské. Cílem této diplomové práce je hledání odpovědí na otázky kdy, kde, jak a pro se jednotlivé kulty šířily a jak ovlivňovaly tehdejší církev a spolenost. Práce se soustředí na nejrůznější aspekty úcty, zejména na etnost patrocinií kostelů, kaplí a oltářů.
