Komentovaný překlad vybraných kapitol z knihy Klettern am Limit: Philosophische Botschaften od Gerharda Oberlina s úvodní studií o autorovi, stylu eseje a problémech překladu

Abstract

Diplomová práce se zabývá komentovaným překladem osmi kapitol kulturně-filozofického eseje publicisty a kulturního vědce Gerharda Oberlina Klettern am Limit: Philosophische Botschaften (2019) z němčiny do češtiny, který propojuje horolezectví s reflexí lidských hranic. Esej tak nabízí nový pohled na extrémní sporty jako společenský a kulturní fenomén. Cílem práce bylo vytvořit funkčně ekvivalentní český překlad vybraných kapitol a zpřístupnit tak českému čtenáři text v přirozené a čtivé formě, která zachová všechny jeho významné rysy jako je filozofické ladění, esejistický styl a vysoká míra intertextuality. Pro získání bližších souvislostí vzniku výchozího textu byl proveden autentický rozhovor s autorem Gerhardem Oberlinem. Výsledky rozhovoru jsou dále rozvedeny v literárněvědné studii o autorovi, jeho stylu a dalším díle. Poznatky byly rovněž využity v překladatelské analýze podle modelu Christiane Nord, jež umožnila systematický popis klíčových faktorů k určení strategie a metody překladu. Stěžejní částí je překlad, na nějž navazuje popis problémů vzniklých při jeho vypracování a spolu s ním jsou představena provedená překladatelská řešení. Práce přispívá k rozvoji teoretické i praktické diskuse o překladu kulturně-filozofických textů a současně otevírá cestu k prvnímu českému uvedení...

This master's thesis presents an annotated translation from German into Czech of eight chapters from Klettern am Limit: Philosophische Botschaften (2019), a cultural-philosophical essay by journalist and cultural scholar Gerhard Oberlin that links mountaineering to reflections on human limits. The essay thus offers a new perspective on extreme sports as a social and cultural phenomenon. The aim of the thesis was to produce a functionally equivalent Czech translation of the selected chapters and thus present the text to Czech readers in a natural, readable form that retains all its distinctive features: its philosophical tenor, essayistic style, and high degree of intertextuality. To gain deeper insight into the genesis of the source text, the translator conducted an authentic interview with the author, Gerhard Oberlin. The interview findings are then expanded into a literary-critical study of Oberlin, his style, and his other works. These insights were likewise incorporated into a translation analysis based on Christiane Nord's model, which provided a systematic description of the key factors guiding the translation strategy and method.
