Poetic Image of Palestine in the Work of Ibrahim Tuqan

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou básnických obrazů Palestiny před rokem 1948 v díle palestinského básníka Ibrāhīma Ṭūqāna, zakladatele moderní palestinské poezie, žijícího v první polovině 20. století. Moderní badatelé věnují tématu palestinské poezie první poloviny 20. století malou pozornost. Dílo Ibrāhīma Ṭūqāna se stalo symbolickým manifestem jednoty Arabů během jejich vzpoury proti britskému mandátu na palestinských územích. Tato bakalářská práce se zaměří na obraz Palestiny před vznikem státu Izrael. Na základě vybraných básní hodlám analyzovat způsoby, jimiž Ibrāhīm Ṭūqān předpovídá pesimistickou realitu, kterou čeká palestinský národ. Součástí analýzy budou také básnické symboly a rétorické obrazy, které Ibrāhīm Ṭūqān používal k vyjádření svých vlasteneckých postojů. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze the various poetic images of Palestine prior to the establishment of the state in 1948. This study will focus primarily on the works of the poet Ibrahim Tuqan, who lived during the first half of the 20th century. His work became a symbol of Arab unity during the uprising against the British Mandate. The thesis will specifically address the phenomenon of foresight, which has become a general feature of Palestinian poetry and a characteristic of Ibrahim Tuqan's work. Based on selected poems, the analysis will explore how Ibrahim Tuqan anticipated the pessimistic reality that awaited the Palestinian nation. This analysis will include the poetic symbols and rhetorical images used by Tuqan to express his patriotic sentiments. The thesis will primarily work with Arabic sources, specifically the original works of Ibrahim Tuqan, supplemented by scholarly articles and studies relevant to the topic or the author.
