| uk.abstract.en | The study focuses on the career trajectory of the Czech historian Eduard Kubů. It out lines the professional development of one of the most important personalities of mod ern economic history in the Czech Republic today, with an emphasis on his contribu tion to scholarly discourse and his activities at the Institute of Economic and Social History at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University (Prague). The text aims to under stand what personal dispositions Kubů possessed and to clarify their correlation with his methodological and interpretive preferences as well as his selection of research topics. Attention is paid to the circumstances that opened the way for Kubů to spe cialize in modern economic history, as well as the reasons why he became a defin ing figure in the field after 1989. His career path is presented through the example of selected research topics, namely economic diplomacy, the systemic development of the Czechoslovak economy, the phenomena of economic nationalism and “aryaniza tion”, as well as the issues of agrarianism and business history. | cs |
