Proměna vztahů mezi USA a ČLR, 1989-2001

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje mezinárodní vztahy mezi Čínskou lidovou republikou a Spojenými státy americkými v letech 1989 až 2001, tedy od rozpadu Sovětského svazu do začátku 21. století. Hlavní výzkumnou otázkou je, jaké faktory v oblasti bezpečnostní politiky a ekonomiky ovlivnily vztahy mezi Čínou a Spojenými státy včetně jejich strategických rozhodnutí. Práce se kromě představení historického kontextu vývoje čínsko-amerických vztahů zaměřuje na pojmy hard power a soft power. Zkoumá se také možná aplikace novodobějšího konceptu sharp power v tomto období. Analýza klíčových událostí vybraných autorem slouží jako nástroj k sledování vývoje vztahů. Analýza se zaměřuje na politiku administrativy George H. W. Bushe a Billa Clintona a vnější politiku generálního tajemníka čínské komunistické strany Jiang Zemina. Cílem je poskytnout hlubší vhled do dynamiky vztahů mezi těmito dvěma globálními mocnostmi.

This thesis analyses the international relations between the People's Republic of China and the United States of America between 1989 and 2001, from the collapse of the Soviet Union to the beginning of the 21st century. The main research question is what factors in the areas of security policy and economics have influenced the relationship between China and the United States, including their strategic decisions. In addition to presenting the historical context of the development of Sino-U.S. relations, the thesis focuses on the concepts of hard power and soft power. It also examines the possible application of the more modern concept of sharp power in this period. An analysis of key events selected by the author serves as a tool to trace the evolution of the relationship. The analysis focuses on the policies of the George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton administrations and the foreign policy of Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Jiang Zemin. The aim is to provide deeper insight into the dynamics of the relationship between these two global powers.
