Are households living in thermally insulated homes paying less for energy?

Abstract

Rostoucí ceny energií spolu s rostoucími obavami o ûivotní prost edí vedou ke stále v töímu d razu na energetickou ú innost obytn˝ch budov. Jedním z rozöí en˝ch eöení tohoto problému je tepelná izolace domu. Hlavním cílem této práce je zjistit souvislost mezi zateplením domu a spot ebou energie v esk˝ch domácnostech. Studie vyuûívá metodu nejmenöích tverc na datech ze öet ení ENERGO 2021 realizovaného esk˝m statistick˝m ú adem, které obsahuje informace o spot eb energie a charakteristikách domácností. Bylo zjiöt no, ûe realizace zateplení vede ke sníûení spot eby energie na vytáp ní, a to nejv˝razn ji v domácnostech, které k vytáp ní pouûívají plyn. A dále taky byl zkoumán vztah mezi zateplením a spot ebou energie u domácností vyuûívajících elekt inu a dálkové vytáp ní. Zavedení izola ních opat ení nejenûe pomáhá sníûit celkové v˝daje domácnosti za energii, ale také usnad uje sníûení celkové spot eby energie a souvisejících emisí skleníkov˝ch plyn . Krom toho se anal˝za pokouöí zjistit, jaké dalöí faktory nejvíce ovliv ují spot ebu energie. Rising energy prices, coupled with growing environmental concerns, lead to an increasing focus on energy efficiency in residential buildings. One of the widespread solutions to this issue is the implementation of thermal insulation in homes. The primary objective of this thesis is to determine the association of insulation with energy consumption in Czech households. The study uses the Ordinary Least Squares method on data from the ENERGO 2021 survey conducted by the Czech Statistical Office, which includes information on energy consumption and household characteristics. The implementation of insulation measures was found to lead to a reduction in energy consumption for heating purposes, most significantly in households using gas for heating. Further analysis also explores the relationship between insulation and energy consumption for households using electricity and district heating. Implementing insulation measures not only helps to reduce the overall energy expenditure of a household but also facilitates a reduction in the overall energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, the analysis seeks to identify what other factors most influence energy consumption.
