Sňatek britské princezny Luisy v roce 1871 v kontextu dynastické, domácí a zahraniční politiky

Abstract

i ABSTRACT The bachelor thesis aims to describe the lives of Princess Louise of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and John Campbell, Marquess of Lorne, as well as their marriage in the context of dynastic, domestic and foreign policy. The thesis tries to map the precedents of marriages between mem- bers of the British royal family from the House of Hanover and subjects of the Crown, along with the legal anchoring of these marriages. Taking into account the domestic and foreign pol- icy, it examines the marriage prospects of Princess Louise in the light of conception of marriage policy of Queen Victoria and Prince Consort Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and their changes after the death of the Prince. Furthermore, it focuses on the history of Clan Campbell, especially on its position in the hierarchy of the Scottish nobility and its property condition. Lastly, the thesis examines the marriage negotiations process and wedding celebrations, the response of public on this event and the influence of it on the media image of the royal family, with an emphasis on the comparison of the English and Scottish press. The analysis will be based on the study of published sources of personal nature, relevant scientific literature, and contemporary press. i ABSTRAKT Bakalářská práce se zabývá životy princezny Luisy Sasko-Kobursko-Gothajské a Johna Ca- mpbella, markýze z Lorne a jejich sňatkem v kontextu dynastické, domácí a zahraniční politiky. Práce se snaží zmapovat precedenty sňatků členů britské královské rodiny z hannoverského rodu s poddanými britské Koruny a právní zakotvení těchto sňatků. Zkoumá sňatkové vyhlídky princezny Luisy ve světle koncepce sňatkové politiky královny Viktorie a prince manžela Al- berta Sasko-Kobursko-Gothajského a též jejich změny po princově smrti, s přihlédnutím k do- mácí i zahraniční politické situaci. Dále se zaměřuje na historii rodu Campbellů, především na jeho postavení v hierarchii skotské šlechty a majetkové poměry. V neposlední řadě práce zkoumá průběh sňatkových jednání a svatebních slavností, jejich ohlas u veřejnosti a vliv na mediální obraz královské rodiny, s důrazem na komparaci anglického a skotského tisku. Ana- lýza bude vycházet ze studia vydaných pramenů osobní povahy, příslušné odborné literatury a dobového tisku.
