Kritika společnosti v románu La familia de León Roch

Abstract

Benito Pérez Galdós was an extraordinary writer who had the talent to portray in his works the social problems of Spain in the second half of the 19th century, in this case through the topic of family. No character in his work is unnecessary, as each symbolizes certain issues and values. The author was able to give each dialogue great meaning, so not only each character, but also every conversation subtly reveals to us the state of society at that time and Galdós's perspective on it. This work aims to see through the fog in which these hidden meanings reside and thus find out the problems the author points out in his book. At the same time, it tries to figure out what his ideals were. Based on the analysis of the work La familia de León Roch, it can be concluded that the author criticized not only the superficial Christianity of the time but also the overall decadence of society, the spreading selfishness, the behavior of the aristocracy, their cold relationships, and so on. The author also pays special attention to the theme of Krausism and its implementation.

Benito Pérez Galdós byl neobyčejným spisovatelem, který měl talent vykreslit ve svých dílech sociální problémy Španělska 2. poloviny 19. století, v tomto případě pomocí rodiny. Žádná postava není v jeho díle zbytečná, neboť symbolizuje určité problémy a hodnoty. Autor byl schopný dát každému dialogu velký význam, a tak nejen každá postava, ale i každý rozhovor nám nenápadně odkrývá stav tehdejší společnosti a Galdósův pohled na ni. Tato práce si klade za cíl prokouknout mlhu, v níž se tyto skryté významy nacházejí a zjistit tak, na jaké problémy autor ve svém díle poukazuje a zároveň, jaké byly jeho ideály. Na základě analýzy díla La familia de León Roch se dá dojít k tomu, že autor kritizoval nejen povrchní křesťanství tehdejší doby, ale taktéž celkový úpadek společnosti, rozšiřující se sobectví, chování aristokracie, její chladné vztahy a tak dále. Autor věnuje taktéž speciální pozornost tématu krausismu a jeho uvedení do praxe.
