The Female Gaze: Pornografie z pohledu českých žen

Abstract

This master theses examines the phenomenon of pornography through the lens of feminism and the female gaze, which enables to consider women's perspectives and experiences as active viewers. The thesis is grounded in a feminist framework and aims to challenge prevailing narratives and stereotypes concerning women's engagement with pornography, based on research predominantly focused on male viwers and male pornography consumption, as well as striving to identify the diverse motivations, sexual desires, preferences and interpretations of women who engage with pornography. The research employs qualitative methods, primarily relying on semi-structured interviews with women who consume pornography. The analysis, influenced by the grounded theory, focuses on the complexity and diversity of the female gaze, examining how women navigate and negotiate their sexuality and desires, and also on the intersections of pornography and feminist theories. By centering around the voices of women, this theses contributes to more inclusive and nuanced understanding of how women engage with and interpret pornography. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem pornografie, nahlíženým optikou feminismu. Titulní female gaze, tedy ženský pohled, umožňuje pojetí ženských perspektiv a zkušeností jako aktivních divaček. Diplomová práce je ukotvena ve feministickém rámci a klade si za cíl reflektovat převládající narativy a stereotypy o ženské konzumaci pornografie, které vycházejí z výzkumů zaměřujících se především na mužská publika a jejich konzumaci pornografie. Zároveň se pokouší identifikovat různé motivace pro konzumaci pornografie, sexuální touhy a preference, i významy, které ženy pornografii přikládají. Tento výzkum využívá kvalitativních metod, vychází z polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se ženami, které se považují za konzumentky pornografie. Analýza inspirovaná metodou zakotvené teorie se zaměřuje na spletitost a mnohost ženského pohledu, jak ženy navigují a vyjednávají svou sexualitu a sexuální touhy, a na průsečíky pornografie a feministických teorií. Tím, že jsou ve středu zájmu ženské hlasy a zkušenosti, tato práce přispívá k více inkluzivnímu a přesnějšímu uchopení toho, jakými způsoby ženy konzumují a interpretují pornografii.
