Témata povídek z pralesa Horacia Quirogy

Abstract

The aim of this diploma thesis is to point out the characteristic features and main themes in the Horacio Quiroga's stories of the jungle. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the general overview and theory of the short story with a focus on the Hispanic American short story, the key part is Quiroga's theoretical concept of the short story and the interpretation of key moments in his life. In the second part, the characteristic features of the short stories from the jungle are examined and the main topics are analyzed on the basis of the theoretical concept of the Ten Rules for the Perfect Storyteller and the author's autobiographical data. The three main topics analyzed are solitude, madness and death, which are presented to a large extent throughout Quiroga's work. The topics are subsequently interpreted in two selected short stories.

Cílem této diplomové práce je poukázat na charakteristické rysy a hlavní témata v povídkách z pralesa Horacia Quiroga. První část práce se věnuje obecnému vývoji a teorii povídkového žánru se zaměřením na hispanoamerickou povídku, stěžejním je pak v této části Quirogovo teoretické pojetí povídky a výklad klíčových momentů v jeho životě. V druhé části práce jsou zkoumány charakteristické rysy povídek z pralesa a následně jsou analyzována jejich hlavní témata na základně teoretického konceptu Desatera dokonalého povídkáře a autobiografických dat. Hlavními třemi analyzovanými tématy jsou samota, šílenství a smrt, které jsou v určité míře přítomny napříč Quirogovou tvorbou. Každé téma je následně interpretováno v dvou vybraných povídkách.
