Altmetrie a její využití při hodnocení vědeckého výzkumu

Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the field of altmetrics. The first part introduces the reader to the theoretical background of this field and discusses the development of scientific communication which enabled the emergence of altmetrics. The following part describes the benefits of implementation of altmetrics in research assessment, and includes the explanation of the limits and various obstacles that will need to be overcome in the future. The theoretical part of the thesis also deals with currently available tools that facilitate altmetrics collection. The practical part consists of the analysis of altmetric indicators and their comparison with traditionally used citations. The main focus of this part is on the coverage of the most used altmetric aggregators, on the correlation between citations and individual indicators, and also on what change in the coverage and values of indicators will bring the time interval of two months between data collections. Finally, using statistical methods, the thesis attempts to answer the question of which factors increase the chances of obtaining higher values of individual indicators. The research was conducted on documents with affiliations to institutions in the Czech Republic which are available in the Web of Science database for the period of 2017 to 2021.

Diplomová práce se zabývá oblastí altmetrie. V první části představuje čtenáři teoretické pozadí tohoto nového přístupu, a rozebírá vývoj vědecké komunikace, který umožnil vznik této oblasti. Dále práce popisuje, jaké výhody přináší implementace altmetrií do hodnocení vědy, ale zároveň neopomíná ani nahlédnout na limity a nejrůznější překážky, které bude potřeba v budoucnu překonávat. V této části se diplomová práce věnuje také aktuálně dostupným nástrojům, které usnadňují jejich sběr. Praktickou část pak tvoří analýza altmetrických ukazatelů a jejich porovnání s klasickými citacemi. To znamená, že se práce zaměřuje na zjištění pokrytí nejpoužívanějších altmetrických agregátorů, na korelaci mezi počty citací článků a jednotlivými ukazateli a také na to, jakou změnu pokrytí a hodnot indikátorů přinese časový odstup dvou měsíců mezi měřeními. Současně se výzkum za pomoci statistických metod pokouší odpovědět i na otázku, které faktory zvyšují šance na získání vyšších hodnot jednotlivých ukazatelů. Tento kvantitativní scientometrický výzkum byl proveden na dokumentech, ve kterých alespoň jeden z autorů má afiliaci na organizaci v České republice, dostupných v databázi Web of Science za období 2017 až 2021.
