Multimodalita při simultánním tlumočení (případová studie na francouzsko-českém materiálu)

Abstract

This thesis deals with nonverbal communication in simultaneous interpreting in booths. In the theoretical section, the relevant existing knowledge regarding nonverbal communication is presented from a general standpoint, focusing mainly on the issue of gestures. This is followed by an analysis of nonverbal communication in connection with simultaneous interpreting. The empirical section includes a case study. Its implementation is based on Elena Zagar Galvão's dissertation Speech and gesture in the booth - A descriptive approach to multimodality in simultaneous interpreting (2009) and applied to French-Czech material. Recordings were made of selected interpreters during simultaneous interpreting which were subsequently analysed. Here, the focus was directly geared toward the use of gestures and their copying. Furthermore, this section contains an analysis of the questionnaires that the interpreters answered after the interpretation. The results of this case study show that a several selected gestures were indeed influenced by the speaker, but overall, the interpreters tended not to imitate the gestures. However, more extensive research with a more representative sample of interpreters and on other language combinations is needed to gain a deeper understanding of the issue. Keywords: simultaneous...

Diplomová práce se zabývá neverbální komunikací při simultánním tlumočení v kabinách. V teoretické části jsou uvedeny dosavadní relevantní poznatky o neverbální komunikaci z obecného hlediska se zaměřením především na problematiku gest. Následuje teoretické zpracování neverbální komunikace ve spojitosti se simultánním tlumočením. Empirická část zahrnuje případovou studii. Při její realizaci jsme vycházeli z disertační práce Eleny Zagar Galvãové Speech and gesture in the booth - A descriptive approach to multimodality in simultaneous interpreting (2009) a poznatky jsme aplikovali na francouzsko-český materiál. Provedli jsme nahrávky vybraných tlumočnic při simultánním tlumočení a poté je analyzovali. Zde už jsme se soustředili přímo na používání gest a jejich opakování po řečníkovi. Dále tato část obsahuje analýzu dotazníků, které dané tlumočnice po skončení tlumočení vyplňovaly. Z výsledků naší případové studie vyplývá, že některá vybraná gesta byla skutečně ovlivněna řečníkem, ale z celkového pohledu tlumočnice gesta spíše nenapodobují. Pro hlubší poznání dané problematiky by bylo potřeba provést rozsáhlejší výzkum s reprezentativnějším vzorkem tlumočníků a na dalších jazykových kombinacích.
