Abstract

The diploma thesis "Ethical Aspects of Uterine Loss or Surrogate Motherhood" summarizes the historical development and present in the field of surrogate motherhood. It focuses on ethical aspects and pitfalls of this institution. Surrogacy is the only option for many couples to conceive a child of their own. We have to take into account aspects that can disrupt the lives of everyone involved. Ethics, law and psychology play a major role here. Should a woman accept that one cannot have everything in life? How does the Church and theologians in general view this situation? The child is between two mothers and bears the psychological and psychiatric consequences of finding out that the mother who gave birth to them will give "her" child to another mother after birth. Is it ethical to tell the child the truth? This and many other ethical questions arise in the institution of surrogacy and I will address some of them. Diplomová práce "Etické aspekty pronájmu dělohy neboli surogátního mateřství" rekapituluje historický vývoj a současnost v oblasti náhradního mateřství. Zaměřuje se na etické aspekty a nástrahy této instituce. Náhradní mateřství je pro mnoho párů jedinou možností k početí vlastního dítěte. Musíme brát v potaz aspekty, které mohou narušit životy všem zúčastněným osobám. Etika, právo a psychologie zde hrají velkou roli. Má se žena smířit s tím, že v životě člověk nemůže mít vše? Jak se na tuto situaci dívá křesťanská církev a teologové obecně? Dítě se nachází mezi dvěma matkami a nese si psychologické a psychiatrické následky po zjištění, že matka, která je porodila, dá "své" dítě po narození jiné matce. Je etické sdělit dítěti pravdu? Tato otázka a mnoho dalších etických otázek vyvstává v instituci náhradního mateřství a některým z nich se budu věnovat.
