Abstract

Karel Guth and his archeological research of the Prague Castle In my master thesis I'm going to focus on life and work of archeologist and art historian Karel Guth. At first I'm going to characterise his important life milestones including his work for the National Museum or his activity in the position of the Provinicial Supreme Museum Councillor and also his legacy and importance for Czech science. I'll emphesize his archeological researches at Prague castle. In my thesis I'm going to primarily rely on sources his own personal funds that I'll supplement with secundary literature. V mé diplomové práci se zaměřím na život a práci archeologa a historika umění Karla Gutha. Nejprve stručně charakterizuji jeho důležité životní milníky, včetně jeho působení v Národním muzeu nebo jeho činnost v pozici zemského vrchního muzejního rady a také jeho odkaz a význam pro českou vědu. Důraz budu klást na jeho archeologické výzkumy na Pražském hradě. Ve své práci budu primárně vycházet z pramenů jeho osobních fondů, které doplním sekundární literaturou.
