Abstract. The thesis presents a quantitative analysis of noun phrases (NPs) determined by the Czech indefinite nějaký. The analyzed material is fiction published from 1999-2019 from SYN2020 corpus. In total, 500 occurrences of indefinites were analyzed. For annotation we used the proposed theory of "licensors" - expressions on which the indefinite is referentially dependent. Conceptually, we follow the theory of dependent indefinites (Farkas 1997). The aim of this paper is to categorize the selected occurrences according to the proposed licenses. We have found out that the ratio of explicit to implicit licenses is approximately 2:1 (339:152), thus there are more occurrences where the usage has an explicit licensor. In the annotation we proceeded from determining the basic grammatical categories (number, case, etc.) to the type of specificity - scopal and epistemic, to the person who experiences such epistemic specificity, and to the final determination of the type of license. As for pragmatics, which plays a crucial role in licensing, we distinguish three modes: ignorance, indifference and irrelevance. As a final subtype of pragmatics, we use the label I3 for cases where no clear choice between the previous three can be made, or where such occurrence can be interpreted on the basis of all three. The...
