Ana Teresa Pereirová: Karen

Abstract

This masters thesis focuses on the work of Ana Teresa Pereira, a contemporary Madeiran author, introducing parts of Karen, her most famous novel so far, to the Czech literary audience. The thesis sets Pereira's proses within the Portuguese and world literature context, examines main characteristics of the work and presents key inspirational sources thereof. The work describes specifics of A. T. Pereira's poetics in relation to the genre of fantastic literature and unveils her narrative strategy with respect to the concept of repetition. The focal point of the thesis consists in translations of selected passages of the novel, accompanied by a study analyzing the author's fictional universe and outlining possible interpretations of the text concerned in connection with intersectionist discourse and multiplication of subject.

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na tvorbu současné madeirské autorky Any Teresy Pereirové a přináší do českého prostředí překlad částí jejího doposud nejslavnějšího románu Karen. Zasazuje spisovatelčiny prózy do kontextu portugalské i světové literatury, sleduje hlavní charakteristické rysy díla a představuje jejich stěžejní inspirační zdroje. Popisuje specifika poetiky A. T. Pereirové v souvislosti s žánrem fantastické literatury a odkrývá její narativní strategii ve vztahu k opakování. Těžištěm práce je překlad vybraných pasáží románu, jež doprovází studie přibližující autorčin fikční svět a nastiňující možné interpretace studovaného textu v souvislosti s intersekcionistickým diskurzem a zmnožováním subjektu.
