Jan Huss, Hussitism, music, Theatre, Opera, nationalism, communismThe image of the Hussite movement as a phenomenon of the Czech nation of the Middle Ages and the present day was portrayed in the music of that time and also in the operatic works of the 19th and 20th centuries. The purpose of my work was to find a way to handle this idea of individual composers, particularly in Zdeněk Fibich's opera Blaník, in Karel Šebor's opera Nevěsta husitská and in opera written by Karel Bendl Dítě Tábora. I would like to highlight in my work how we perceive currently Hussite images captured in these two operatic works, written in thein particular time of the 19th century.
