L’analyse est basée sur lecorpus parallèle InterCorp, limité aux textes littéraires.; The aim of this paper is to identify and compare the distribution of the verbs say/dire/říci-říkat inreporting clauses placed medially or finally, and to analyze types of their equivalents in translations(French-English-Czech). Our hypothesis is that in translations from a language with a higher proportionof the neutral verbs say/dire/říci-říkat in reporting clauses into a language where their proportionis lower, the number of replacements of these verbs, especially using explicitation, will behigher than in the opposite direction of translation. The analysis is based on fiction texts from theInterCorp parallel corpus.

<title>Evasion and hedging in the language of parliamentary Question Time</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11956/97492</link>
<description>Evasion and hedging in the language of parliamentary Question Time
Nevrkla, Lukáš
The paper examines evasion and hedging in the language of parliamentary Question Time in the BritishHouse of Commons and in the Australian House of Representatives. It analyses the usage of evasionand hedging, and briefly investigates the relation between these two linguistic phenomena. Moreover,it seeks to test the methodological approach, and the conclusions reached in the previous research, especiallyby Alan Partington (2003) and Bruce Fraser (2010), and to provide a comparative perspectiveon the rhetorical culture and communication conventions in the British and Australian Question Time.

<title>Verbale Diminutive — ihre Abgrenzung und Bedeutung</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11956/97489</link>
<description>Verbale Diminutive — ihre Abgrenzung und Bedeutung
Des Weiterenwird festgestellt, dass einige Affixe, die als diminuierende gelten, keinen evaluativen, sondern einensemantischen Charakter haben und in erster Linie die Kategorien Aspekt, Phase oder Intensitätder Verben markieren.; Verbal diminutives are not so well described as diminutives of nouns, not even in those languages inwhich this category is considered to be a stable part of morphology. There are probably at least tworeasons for this: first, there is a logical discrepancy between the traditional definition of a diminutive:sb/sth is small, and the nature of a verb, which is a word that expresses an action, an event ora state. Thus a verb cannot be “little” or “small”. But it can convey a connotative meaning and expressan attitude — other (possible) features of a diminutive. Second, even in languages that have the categoryof verbal diminutives (such as Czech or German) it is not quite clear what these diminutivesactually mean. The following contrastive analysis of the Czech and the German verbal diminutive forms revealsthat only few suffixes can be used in an evaluative way (in terms of Bauer) for forming real verbaldiminutives. Further, most of the affixes considered diminutive function as semantic markers differentiatingthe base verb from its morphological modification by aspect, phase or intensity.
